Mutuba Tree Adoption Program

BOFTA has launched the Mutuba Tree Adoption and Census Program, supporting farmers, barkcloth processors, and the local ecosystems.  By adopting a tree, you are helping the Center track and take care of these important, renewable trees. Through this program, the team is collecting biodata on trees in the Kibinge Sub-County, while adopting out trees to international patrons, artists, and designers. Each tree is accounted for and cataloged, the information gathered on each includes: farmer who owns the tree, the geo-location of the tree, the sub-species, the tree age, and who processes the bark into cloth.

Through your gift, you will adopt one mature mutuba (barkcloth) tree identified by the team at BOFTA. In addition, the team will plant one mutuba tree in the local community. When that tree matures, it will be adopted and another one planted, and the circle will continue!

BOFTA is partnered with Mekeka Designs for individual tree adoptions for anyone outside of Uganda.

Through your adoption, you will receive:
- An Adoption Certificate from BOTFA + Mekeka Designs emailed to you.
- A video and photo of your tree
- Geolocation coordinates so you can find your tree on Google Maps (You can visit it one day in Uganda!
- Knowledge that your gift supports BOFTA programs
